Ever wonder how the governmental entities within the boundaries of Bolingbrook are funded?
The most commonly known source of funding are property taxes. The detail is listed right on the tax bill.
But property taxes are not the only source of income for our local governmental bodies. Taxes (other than property), user-fees, charges and food/liquor sales help to fund our local government to the tune of hundreds of millions every year.
Hard earned cash flowing out of our pockets and into the local government.
We analyzed the financials of 5 governmental entities and discovered 3 of the 5 entities receive most of its funding from property taxes, and 2 government entities rely heavily on charges, user fees and food/liquor sales for funding.
